Visitors will walk into a newly themed fortress as treasure hunters in search of an Aztec treasure. The ride opened in 1978 and will be renamed MonteZooma: The Forbidden Fortress. Montezooma’s Revenge was the first flywheel-launched roller coaster in the world. One of the village’s main roller coasters, Montezooma’s Revenge, is also getting a facelift and new name. The themed land features plenty of Mexican-inspired designs, eateries, two roller coasters and other attractions. The Fiesta Village, opened in 1969, is Knott’s Berry Farm’s homage to California’s Hispanic roots. Knott’s Berry Farm officials said the Fiesta Village, the Montezooma roller coaster, and the Knott’s hotel would undergo significant renovations in the coming year.
